About Student Council
PURPOSE OF STUDENT COUNCIL
Develop student responsibity in the school and community.
Promote student activity in the school organization.
Encourage cooperation among members of the student body.
Develop and provide opportunities for
leadershio and service in the school and local community.
STUDENT COUNCIL SPONSORS
Student Council Sponsors act as a liaison to students and parents regarding all student council activities. They organize the election of student council representatives, organize the election of student body officers, and organize and promote student and school pride activities. Sponsors provide leadership training and help students develop leadership skills. They assist students in transitioning between elementary, middle, and high school.
YOUR SPONSORS:
Mrs. Evans is the Gifted Teacher at Old Town Middle School. She has been a teacher for 10 years. She is excited to give students a chance to take ownership of their school and make it a better place!
Mrs. Everett is the 6th grade ESL teacher at Old Town Middle School. She has
been teaching for 5 yeors. She is excited to empower and encourage student leaders and is looking forward to the OTMS Cultural Showcase in the Spring.
STUDENT COUNCIL OFFICERS
PRESIDENT: Oversees meetings, maintains the flow of business, and represents the student body.
VICE PRESIDENT: assisis the president, attends meetings, and oversees event planning committees.
SECRETARY: Takes and distributes meeting minutes, responsible for correspondence to community.
TREASURER: Manages council finances, including overseeing expenses and revenues, maintaining financial records, and authorizing payments.
HISTORIAN: Takes photos of activities and corresponds to socially promote the Student Council.
Grade Level Repesentatives: Represent the voice of each closs.
Committee Chairpersons: Plan and research activities to ensure they are effective.
STUDENT COUNCIL OFFICERS SHOULD
Follow the Student Council Constitution.
Be a role model for other students.
Demonstrate good character, such as trustworthiness, respect, and responsibility.
Be aware of their visibility and abide by school rules.
Have a positive attitude and be willing to listen.
Be organized and have good planning and scheduling skills.
Be enthusiastic and dedicated.
